An estate built to last

Restoring a five-century-old mill inevitably raises the question: what environmental impact do we leave behind? Here are our concrete commitments.

Energy

• Pool heated by a heat pump
• Nordic bath heated by local wood fire from responsibly managed forestry
• Wood heating for the accommodations, with an electric backup

Water

• Automatic watering 100 % with rainwater (collection tank) and natural springs on the property
• Two greenhouses, a kitchen garden and a henhouse watered with natural spring water

Materials

• Schist stone original to the building and Vosges sandstone walls
• Oak wood from Vosges forests (within 50 km)
• Wood-fibre insulation and lime-hemp
• Lime-based paints with no VOCs

Food

The two greenhouses, the vegetable garden and the henhouse provide vegetables, herbs and eggs, eaten on site for breakfasts and events. The rest is sourced from Vosges producers within 30 km.

Mobility

• Charging station for electric vehicles (1 × 22 kW station)
• Free electric bike loan for guests
• Marked hiking maps starting from the estate
